I will be back up there in about a week and a half.-wow it feels good typing that- for good. where are some good refrences and good places to start? what are some more favorable places? why? thanks in advance.

Welcome to the AX section of MM's

The Good Reverend and I are members of ESCA and will be heading up to Santa Rosa AX next weekend. Join up and come run your car around real fast and burn some rubber off of your tires.

As for what to keep in mind...? AX is a driver-mod endeavor, so just have fun and drive your ride exactly how she is. Maybe run the front tire pressure up a few lbs, but that is about it. Borrow a helmet if you can and try to avoid those silly orange thingy's laying all over the place.

Other than that, you can do a search for autocross in your area and will likely find some other locations that will be a bit closer to your home. As to why........ because we like you!

I will be at each of the ESCA events for the rest of the season

Your wife is smart.... she knows the potential risks of the track and AX is just about impossible to crash. You may break something, but even this is rare. You mostly beat up on your tires

If you want to go, PM me, as need to set up a guest pass.

The cost to run for the day is $30 and your helmet should be fine. I am pretty sure only needs to be DOT approved, but have at least a 2K year rating. If it is both, all the better so bring it out. Worst case scenario, you can borrow one at no charge.

You will need to pass a general inspection of your ride, so be sure the battery is secure. Make sure your wheels are tight, no loose suspension parts and such. Remove the items from trunk and stuff that may slide/move around inside the car while on the course. I spoke with the club and can run as a guest, but would like you to join if you want to return again. If so, you can join that day and is like $29.00, I think, for the rest of the year which will total one more scheduled AX day on October 10th.
