The camera you want is gonna depend on the quality of video you would like and the expense you are willing to pay. The probably one of the least expensive, and just fine cameras, is the GoPro, as suggested by Smilieboy. I use an HD widescreen camera with a windshield mount and looking at nearer to $400 probably.

PS. Looks like fun

I have Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5S camera, but links are funky to Amazon, so doesn't work after about 15 attempts

I have The Gripper windshield mount.

I ended up using silicone adheasive to glue the mount to the window, because it fell off. The sun breaks down the seal, appearantly.

It does seem like the Go Pro HD is the way to go. I've been trying to come up with a way to mount my digital camera w/o having to 3M it to my dash and there just aren't low cost mounts there that will hook up to a standard tripod screw.

The Go Pro has so many mounting options that it boggles the mind. I was sad to learn that my 5MP camera can only do 640x480 vid (I thought it could do 1080) that I am def going to save up for a Go Pro
