bad weekend at mid ohio

well it was a few weeks ago but we ran at mid ohio both me and my dad. well my weekend was a freaking blast i lapped 2 z06 corvettes and pretty much the whole feild except for a 2010 porche carrera s on street tires that i was following while i was lapping everybody. btw i was running slicks.

well for dad the tranny was acting funny on friday testing and saturday came around 3rd gear syncro started to malfunction but we made it into thrid. well in the middle of the race in the car no matter what you would do wouldnt go into third and 4th syncro was gone. double clutch to 4th till the end of the race but we still made 1:38 lap times and cookin. so we pull in to the trailor first thing and put the car on the lift and lift it up drop the tranny and go to summit and get one and shove it in there and test it. well we were buttoning it up and dad messed up on a zip tie so he goes to snip the zip tie and cuts the braided bleader line to the clutch!!! so next morning our local auto dealer lets us borrow a brake line and we bleed the clutch and test it. works thank god. so the day is going so awsome no complications. we get to the race and dad starts at 3rd for the start of the race (rolling start) well he guns it and just adding the 360 hp tune to it it spun and bounced off the rev limiter for a second or two. well he gets to the end of the strait and misses a shift and hits the rev limitor (limitor at over 8200 rpm) and he did fine for the next few laps set the second fastest time and had passed 7 cars and then the car looses a cylinder then another and another till 4 cylinders are gone and he immediately shut it off and coasted 1.5 miles into the pits. so i get it towed to the trailor and we winch it up into the trailor and take it home. well we have the whole block out now the cam gear is stripped on the passenger side the valves hit the pistions on the right side but amazingly arent bent but there are clean spots on the pistons where they contacted. the chain tensioner was completely worn through on that side and every rocker arm was either snapped in half or cracked on the passenger side which why the valves werent broke off. so the cylinder heads and cams are getting reworked and the new parts are on the way but i got some pics and some vids from the race that ill post up tommoro. tonight is the teardown pics.

Ouchies, one of the main reasons I'm not really bitter about Mid America being underwater. I def couldn't afford to rebuild my engine. Looking at the 3k$ bill for wheels and tires alone makes me sick!

At least you ran well while it was running. The nice thing is the aftermarket is so huge, that she will most def rise from the ashes to dominate again

Sick setup! Sucks your dad had problems. At least you got a good time in!!!

Pitchur's of the rebuild? What kind of cam's are you running to set the rev limit that high? Are you making power up to redline or is that just so you can stay in it till the end of a straight without shifting?
