You are certainly correct on the rules/regs of the SCCA and the class changes that happen with mods!

The 5-link requires some beefing up of the connection points, as the UCA's are lengthened to approx. double of the original. There is an article ***HERE** and gets into more detail of how it works.

Personally, I think that they make some good points, but are also trying to sell a product. If it were such an advantage, I feel it would be a LOT more popular a solution for the 4-link suspension

Jazzer

PS. Thanks, Whiskey

Yeah, that's exactly what I feel. It feels life the ass picks up way too much and the front drops like a sob. I want to get rid of that as much as possible.

I highly doubt that this car will go to an autocross event more than once every two years. Lol It's going to stay my daily driver for a long time. I want a nice street "spirited driving" () machine. As far as the "launching at higher RPMs" comment, any suspension upgrade I do will be an improvement over what I have now. So anymore description past that, I couldnt tell you. Lol

This is gonna come down to what you are willing to invest in your ride

A PHB with TA is gonna likely require an upgrade of rear springs to heavier ones. It will also require FLSFC's, so looking at roughly $1200 in parts. You may need someone to install them, so labor will increase that cost.

Prior to ANY suspension mods, take your car to at least 5~6 AX events and see how you like it. Most will fall in love with it, or go once and forget it. If you are the latter, you may find it hard to justify the expense of such an upgrade.

I have yet to meet someone who went to an AutoX event and didn't fall in love with it! You'll most def go to more than one event every two years. I can PROMISE you that much. If you enjoy driving your car at all you'll go to more than one. It's addicting and horrifyingly inexpensive and fun. Pick the class you want to go with (ESP is probably the most popular for modded mustangs, SM is a bit much for most people as it is largely dominated by IRS and AWD imports) and build the car to it and your comfort level.

I will be going all out. ESP or SM depending on how the Fays2 watts link gets classified. Worst case I'm in SM boo hoo. I drive to have fun, and so should you! And yes, yes you will get addicted. I PROMISE

I'm sure I'll love it, I just don't want to abuse my high mileage engine. When I rebuild it, I'll be more comfortable with sustained RPMS.

What gears do the Mach 1 come with? With 3.55's in the rear of my 09 I'm not above 5k in 2nd gear much except for on fast slaloms and straights. I've been fortunate to have two very open and fast courses for my two AutoX events. I have another this next weekend at a different venue that I imagine will be tighter simply because it's an airport runway but I could be wrong.

AutoX doesn't cause much abuse to the motor believe it or not. Its a strain on tires, suspension and maybe brakes depending on the course. The motor will just see it as a chance to stretch just a little bit. Ive only been on one course where i was anywhere near 6K for a length of time. Not to mention you have a decent motor in your car. Once you start, you will be looking for the chance to take it back more and more.

As i said earlier, start with the shocks, struts, CC plates, lower control arms, panhard bar and springs. If you want to get more out of it then you can invest in a TA from MM. Trust me, the PHB will do wonders, the TA will just make it even better.
