bad weekend at mid ohio #2

well this is about the next weekend after my last thread. rebuilt the motor with much blood sweat and tears dynod it and on its 360 hp tune it laid down 270 with new custom built cams. it was looking awsome and we went out for qualifying. well the motor had about 40 minutes on it now so we assumed it was fine after already checking everything over again. so the car goes out and heres the video. toward the end where the motor shuts down the brand new for racing oil pump breaks. : eek: and any other little things that my face could make i made them.
http://youtu.be/JsEES4wiX7U
so here is the new remedy we just got into the garage .

i also ran my car and it turned out awsome for me. ive got more vids to upload still but i will later.

Man im sorry to hear that. I would have blown a head gasket literally lol! Are you an scca racer? If so, what all would i have to do to pass tech inspection to be able to join and race? I live in the cleveland area and have dreamed about racing at nelson and mid ohio and was just wondering if you could point me in the right direction. I like to become one with my car in the twisties and the 1/4 mile just dont do it for me. Also, do you know if nelson or mid ohio have open track days for the public? I just recently got into autocross and i found my new drug lol! Thanks

If you know what class you run in autox I don't think it changes for their road course. The scca tech form should be on their webpage but the tracks may have their own tech form.

I'm hoping to get to motorpark Hastings here sometime before the white death hits the midwest as mid america is still flooded and the track may never get fixed. If there is any hope for the course its that the water seeped up rather than flowing over it so the ground may settle some but it shouldn't be washed out.

Op, the new 302 will be epic keep us posted, from the ashes of the old motor will arrise a powerful fire breathing dragon.

We run with nasa. The scca guys are kinda ridiculous with theyre rules the nasa guys are easyer on the rules and dont have as many arguments. For racing you would need cage fire bottle ect. For track day you need a roll bar above youre head for convertable. Then just fridays 200 bucks weekend is 360. Really i think a rollbar is all you need but you might just be able to keep the top up and run. You get an instructor in the cost that rides with you and tells you how to improve then level two is w/o an instructor and level 3 and 4 is open passing

Mid ohio has follow the leader deals on a thursday each month for 200 bucks but you dont get as much out of it unless you go to their 8k$ it is a blast i still need to post my rain vids up and my 1 dry session from sunday. I drifted all the way through turn 8 and shouldnt have caught it i guess from what im told

They have really strict saftey requirements for "racing" i run what they call high performance driving event so theres not as much saftey equipment because as far as the insurance company knows were putting around the track.
I think were going to rebuild the 3v and take it down to road atlanta to make sure the motor is bulletproof before we turn around and sell it. Probably put a gt pump with upgraded gears in it. Thats what we ran before

Yeah I was just reading the rules and they seem pretty intense for a hobby racer like myself. And no the classes are not the same. Maybe my local events run classes based on scca solo classes instead of the club racing rules. Not sure as I haven't been to an event yet.

Yes, but I already feel that way in SCCA Solo even though I don't need that much money to race. I just wish I had a set of A6's for my 09 so I could at least close the 7-10s gap between Don Knopp and I in F-Stock locally. Of course it would be nice to have the remaining 4k worth of suspension I'd LIKE to do....

ive got four for an 18 in wheel that we cant use and im sure that it would break my car before they broke loose on the track.

S197 specced 18's or for the SN95?

Used works for me if I had any money =( How wide are the 18". I might be able to come up with some cash if the price is right If they 18"s are too wide (wider than 8.5") I can't run em in F-Stock and I'm not ready to move to the big boy classes yet
