Wheel Size Advantage

Is there a wheel size preference to DD with AX? (I am just wondering)

Deciding upon 17inch 03/04 SVT OEM Rims vs 18 in American Racing Bullit rims

Thoughts?

Too heavy... 17" is cool just find some good looking light weight ones. I would bet the AR rims are going to be heavy, 26 lbs or so for something that is only 8.5, maybe 9" wide. You can find lighter in the same price range.

A set of Dunlop Dizerra Star Specs (I think Z1?) mounted on as wide of tire as you are comfortable running front and back. I wouldn't do a staggered set up so you can rotate when the fronts get worn, rotate to the rear and so on. The star specs are a great street tire with excellent performance capabilities in AX

I'd rather not spend anymore monties on rimz.

I have 2 sets:

17 OEM Cobra
18 AR Bullits

Am wondering which has the advantage?

I'd go for the cobra's. Everything being equal the 17's would weigh less then the 18's but not by much. Tire prices and brake setup would dictate which one you go with. For me the only reason to run bigger rims would be to clear a big brake setup and some of the best brakes fit under a 17" rim anyways.

Thanks.... and i am sure the cobra brake would fit the cobra rims lol. Currently I am just running hawk pads & braided lines.

I am running stock 03 cobras with bullit brakes and they clear just fine. Carbotech AX6 pads, but they are noisy as hell.

The Cobras, lighter and smaller is what you want in AX or roadcourse racing. it also helps to have the cobra 17x9 because the wider the rim/tire combo the more grip. (to certain point)
