ESCA Auto-X 9-18-11

Well, this was our honeymoon HPDE day and was a wonderful cap to a spectacular weekend

I guess I still don't really understand this stuff My first run was my fastest up until my last one...

This was good enough for 13th overall in a field of 59 cars. Came in about 2.3 seconds behind the fastest car of the day and makes that fastest of 4 events this year.

Got a little fond of my new found aggressive driving style and got a little carried away on this one

Hoping to see TGR's vids as he had a really cool camera location, so hoping he post's 'em up

Jazzer

Hey, you can see me in line at the end of both of those, heh.

I don't have my vids processed yet, but I do have a selection of my photos up.

^ yup.... in the works (keep it on the down-low )

Jake... do a search in the Autocross section for a thread on this very subject back a few months. You will find some pics and information on what several of us use.

MaxMo Road and Track, but the spring rrate isn't the issue; it's the angle of my control arms at resting ride height. I can either push down the wheel side through a combination of a taller balljoint and spring, or change the location of the inner pickup by either modifying or replacing the k-member.

I give, Jazzer and Serlin a lot of credit for doing this with beautiful cars. I just don't have it in my heart to do that.

Aside from the 20" wheels, WHY?

Reverend, when class are you running in? I was just reading the 2012 rule changes and it seems aftermarket K-members are not legal in anything except the Prepared and up classes (specifically CP).

Well honestly with the FRPP that came on the Shelby, I think it handles very, very well. I am sure I would still have to do some suspension mods, but this just seems like it is putting a lot of wear and tear on the car. Mine baby wasn't made for that. LOL She's a car show trophy whore.

I would really like to do this though.

The Shelby GT is still one of THE cars to have in F-Stock... I wouldn't do anything to it to be honest. Learn the car, then learn what to change one at a time.

As for wear and tear, well, yeah, some on the tires and the bushings, but it would take about 50 runs to equate to a week of driving, and 50 runs is about a season (10 events at 5 runs an event). So at the end of it all you are really shortening the life by a month in 4 years? It's not really that hard on brakes as they never get that hot.

The biggest wear is going to be the tires and that is going to depend on the track surface and how aggressive you are. My BFG KDWS have 22.5k on them and are about 1/8th of an inch left (in other words, they are basically done) but I'm very spirited on the roads. That's all in the spring/summer/fall as the car sits during the winters.

That said, GET OUT THERE AND DO IT Your car will thank you!
