Autocorss In an Automatic

I'm looking to try out AutoX sometime soon as I know a couple of people who already do it. I was wondering how my 4R70W automatic with 4.10 gears would handle and what tequniues to use as an Automatic.( Im thinking about sticking it in 2nd for D(3rd) w/ OD off.)
My Suspension:
-H&R Supersports
-18x9 Hypercoated Saleen Wheels
-18x10 Hypercoated Saleen Wheels
- NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 275/35-18 Tires
- NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 285/35-18 Tires

Brakes:
-Slotted Rotors
-Hawk Pads

4.10 gears and tlok, as well as performance mods in my 02 V6.

Depends on how long the sessions are. I took my '05 out for a 20 minute DE once and the transmission said NO about halfway through (O/D light started blinking).

Wouldn't hurt to get a good cooler, and a trans temp gauge to keep an eye on it.

He asked about autocross so no more than a minute or two tops at a time?

If your transmission has the ability to select shift then use it. What are the gear ratios in the 4r70w? Or an easier question is what does first and second gear top out in with your setup? The gear that reaches 60-65 at the top end is going to be the one to use. For me that is second gear (65 mph). I ask because you probably won't go faster than that on a course, and if you do it will be too brief to shift out of. I have only been near redline on one course with an abnormally long straight but never hit the rev limiter.

If you don't have select shift then you can still do it but you might need to learn how to force a downshift with your transmission and practice it a lot.

With your mods I have no idea where you would be classed.

I did it for a while. I had a stall in the car and everything. I usually kept it in second gear and went for it. I had fun, but a manual is much more fun. Suspension wise, you can copy most everything a manual car has, phb/TA set up etc.

Its all about having fun, and getting your feet wet in the hobby.

You wont hurt anything in a 60 second run.
