First time

I just spent the weekend at a 2-day event. What a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait till the next one. Did realize that I don't have the setup to compete in ESP.
Even so, I got considerably faster each run and was only off course once.
Gonna set the ft. end alignment for the twisties instead of for drags and try some "street legal slicks" and have at it again.

Any one have a good alignment setting?????

How about good tires for ESP class????

Glad to hear you had fun! I wouldn't worry about being competitive in your class just yet, the fact that you're getting faster each run is very good.

For your alignment, it's really going to vary based on your suspension, but the general rule is that you want a couple degrees of negative camber and as much positive caster as you can get. Tire temps are a good way to determine how well your supension setting is working - assuming you have a probe style pyrometer. If you do, after each run, measure the temperature at the inner, center, and outer part of each tire. Write it down. The temps should be even across the tread. Adjust each setting individually until the temps are as close as possible, then work on the next adjustment. Tire pressure is also very important!

If you don't have a pyrometer, you can also use the chalk trick to determine how much air pressure you need: take the chalk and draw lines all the way across your tread and up the sidewall in at least three places on the tire. Check how the chalk's worn off when you're done with your run. If it's being rubbed off the sidewall, you need more air.

Good tires is a debate. I know last year the Falken Azensis RT-615s were top dog, but that means a whole lot of nuthin' this year. The Kumho Ecsta MX is supposed to be a good autocross tire, as well. Tire choice will also be dependent on whether or not you want to run race rubber or street tires. I'm looking at Toyos to replace my current Kumho allseason rubber - the Cobra doesn't have to pull DD duty anymore, so I can finally put some high-perf summer tires on there.

Again, glad to hear you enjoyed yourself!

Thanks Dex, I appreciate the info you gave before. The pressures you gave me worked ok and another competitor hooked me up as far a dropping pressure till I started rolling the tire. Funny thing was my fastest run was also the most fun (drifting thru both ends of the course). Pretty happy though ended up with a 51.2 to the winning 47.9 and its a prepped ESP car w/race rubber. Ready to go again already...
