New Mustang Gt owner

I just bought my 06 mustang GT. To be honest I felt that mustangs were always glorified and were not great cars. I felt that everyone had one and they couldn't be fast or powerful. So a dealer talked me into driving one and I fell in love with the GT much better car than i ever expected. Now I want to make my car better than most not the best. I want to make mine formidable on the street and on teh track but still be a daily driver. I want people to see my car and fall back in love with American Muscle. Anyone have any ideas on what i should do to my car to put it ahead of teh pack but not kill me at teh pump.
