Need a "Brakes 101" Lesson

I've cheked out some of the recent posts on brakes, but need some basics for a beginner. I have a 2004 GT and just put on FR500 wheels. They are 18X9 with 265/35/18 on the front and 18X10 deep dish with 295/35/18 on the rear. I've been starting to plan out all the upgrades to increase the performance, but before I go any farther with making the car faster I also want to plan out how to stop quicker and in more control at those high speeds.

What do I need to know about brake enhancements in terms of size, types of rotors, pads, lines, front and rear differences, etc. Even the larger size of the wheel seems to call for increased stopping power.

I always appreciate the technical folks bringing me up to speed. Thanks in advance.
