Disc Brakes...

Any of you have a good way of busting a frozen disc from the hub? The damn thing won't come off - I have nearly resorted to beating it with a mallet to try to unseize the little sh*t.

ps - I have never had soooo many different causes for concern when repairing/upgrading braking systems until I tried to on my cobra the past day or two, damn it. But, dual piston calipers + 13" discs FTW, I'll say that much.

So yeah, any help = appreciated.

(I am also wondering why we don't have a designated Brake section in our Tech forums...??...so I just post in the clubhouse or FAQ till then I suppose)

If you have torches heat the center of the rotor up - carefully, and hit the rotor with a hammer.

A puller may also work if you have one.

haha sounds like fun.

I just doused the center of it (both sides) with some penetrating catalyst and see if she'll budge loose in the morning. I would have never thought of using a torch though, you must be very wise in your old age ...

... j/k

well if it will make ya feel any better you have my permission to randomly post up some of your famous "random hot chick" photos now. If you are out of any more ideas for freeing up ceized discs, that is.

Well hell, if I can't finish my brake job tonight, at least I have MM and it's bountiful pictures of women abound, thanks to Zip, of course. - It does act as quite the stress reliever, lol.

haha I love it - people are gonna see "disc brakes" as the title to this thread and be happily suprised, I would imagine.

of course my brake situation is not improving, but my mental attitude has certainly changed :wink
