All of those thing sound feesible except for one problem, I do all of my own brake stuff. I have taken the pin out several times and verified that of the required hardware is firmly secured. I also double checked to verify that nothing was broken or visibly worn. The only thing I can see wrong is the slack at the pin that holds that caliper down. For the life of me I can not figure out how or why this is happening. I agree that there shouldn't be a valid reason other than something being loose. I know one thing, it is driving my up the wall!!

I had this problem on my 97 gt when i bought it. its the brake pads. take the wheel off and see if you can move the brake pads around pretty freely? if so look on the top of the caliper ( flat side facing the fender well) see that square hole? there is suppose to be a metal clip in there that holds the pads securely, buy a brake caliper parts kit, and it will come with a new one. let me know if thats the problem because i bet $100 it is
