Yeah sadly, but of course NASCAR has gone downhill for about 10 years now

Thats just freaking horrible I guess stock car does'ent mean shit anymore. The cars are looking less and less like the cars on the road. All of the cars on the track are 4 door cars in real life. Just look at the cars from the 50's through the 70's. The cars all had stock bodies and floors.

Yeah all they did back then was tear out the interior throw in a roll cage slap some paint on em' and depending on the year drop the biggest ass engine they could get away with in the car and send her off. Also why the hell did Toyota get into this its not like there car will be any different looking than the everyone elses (except Dodge a little) and i guarantee you no fucking little Toyota four-banger is gonna be under that hood it'll be some one elses. And I'll fucking shoot myself in the foot if they race one more god damn road course because if that happens NASCAR will turn into open wheel racing with a few oval courses instead of the other way around. Thats one thing us Americans have always had is chasing each other around in circles at high speeds (us hickabilly Americans anyway). I miss th NASCAR of old granted I never actually saw it because of my age but I've seen pictures and old videos and I lust for its former glory to be restored but realize it'll never happen. NASCAR is no longer what it used to be it has declined your right but ya know like you said there not even stock cars any more there just really fast huge ass peices aluminum and fiberglass with one hell of a nonstock motor in em which is why guess people watch it is because the speed but with the new cars we wont even have that the Car of Tomorrow goes 3/4 the speed of todays. Can you say rating drop. And does anyone think Pontiac should go NASCAR even tho it wont matter now with the Car of Tomorrow and all. How about if there was no Car of Tomorrow do you think Pontiac should join and if so with what car. But if there were no car of tomorrow then NASCAR would find another way to fuck things up. Thanks for reading this shit this far.

actually you really can't get pissed at toyota being in the racing, toyotas are not really made all in japan anymore, they employ thousands of hardworking blue collar americans here on our own soil. the cars that are being esentially built outside of the US are the american cars.. we have plants in canada & mexico, it's been being outsourced for a long time...

toyota actually does produce V-8's in their trucks as well. & thats what they are basing off of... TRD out in California prduces a lot of the engines & then ships them to the TRD shop in High Point, NC & then from High Point they are sent out to the individual shops in Cornelius, NC & Mooresville, NC & built up by the shops to suit their needs.

& up until 07 the only car company that had a production V-8 availible for their street cars that were sponsered into use in NASCAR (granted namesake of the car was the only thing really used) was Dodge. all the older Monte Carlos/luminas had V-6's, Ford Fusion/Taurus have V-6's.. but you dont find the six bangers from chevy & ford under the hoods either...

&& pontiac was heavy into NASCAR up untill a few years ago with the grand prix so i figure if pontiac got back into NASCAR it would go with either the grand prix or the bonneville...

anyways, i have no real problems with toyota joining in just for the sole fact that they provide just as many, if not more than ford & chevy, jobs for our blue collar hardworking americans. most toyotas that are sold in the US are built here by americans so i see no problem with them being in NASCAR..

i do dislike the looks & the styling of the car of tomorrow but i do like the advances in driver safety that they have made of the car.... i guess it was going to come eventually though.... i don't care though, my best friends dad is the head mechanic for dale jarret @ waltrip racing so i got a job after i get outta the air force :-) i don't care as long as it pays my rent!!!!

With decades past there use to be a connection to the cars that you see and drive everyday, and the cars you watch on the track competeing. They are getting farther away from that. NASCAR seems like it is getting closer to INDY, where there little or no manufacter identifiction or alliances and none to the avarage fan.

Yeah I really don't have anything agianst Toyota I just wanted to get a little attention to the post so that everyone could see like B Mad said how NASCAR is getting further and further away from being actual stock cars. And I know Toyota is made in the US and the US outsources but if you think about it thats just another marketing technique by Toyota there just saying we build our Japanese cars in your country using your citizens so you should buy our car. I know it sounds outrageous but why else build in the US why dont they outsource in places like we out source where its cheaper because they want us to buy there cars based soley on the fact they are made in the US. And as for Toyota joining NASCAR just because they are made in the US doesnt make them American cars, and NASCAR stands for National Asociation of Stock Car (i forgot the 2nd A) Racing and since this is America National refers to all over the US and since Japan isnt part of America it isnt included under that term National and due to the fact Toyota is a Japanese based comany they are also not under the term National so they shouldn't be in NASCAR fot that reason and having cars made in America doesnt count just like if a Mexican family sent a member of the family over here to work for money to send back to them they are not made American citizens. I have nothing personal against Toyota I just think they shouldn't be in NASCAR.

Nascar needs to start running the cars around the track the other direction, since they seem to be going Fucking BACKWARDS lately, LOL.

I don't follow nascar too much. But for a guy from Cali, I seem to be the only guy at my school who likes it. I watched the Daytona 500 a few weeks ago and noticed that Toyota had a few of their cars in it. My instant reaction was "WTF... A piece of jap shit in a nascar race, whats up with that" I was very pleased to find out that they had to disqualify their car because it had gas with jet fuel in it. Nascar - Racing for americans, not Jap shit.

Nascar started going down hill when they started using restrictor plates back around 1987...sense then...its gotten worse and worse ever year.
Except for the Watkins Glenn and Sears Point race...I refuse to even watch it any more.
Its total crap. Almost as bad as watching professional wrestling.

If NASCAR is going downhill then damn! I want to go downhill too... the Nextel Cup series is the highest watched sport on television and has been for over a decade. The Bristol race is the single-largest attended event in the united states each and every year.

Yeah, Toyota is in the series now. Oh but wait... they've been in the Craftsman truck series for years now and nobody even knew or cared much. All of a sudden our "Americano" attitude is pissed that a car manufactured in Illinois is in the Nextel Cup. I don't care one bit and I'm a die hard Nascar fan. To those who want to see Toyota get the boot after this year I ask why? Why are the "American" cars (Ford, Chevy, Dodge) scared of losing to an "import?" Hell half of american cars nowadays are being made in either canada or mexico so I think everyone needs to take a breath and think about it. Really.

It's okay to frown upon the guy who drives a 98hp corolla with a 400lb wing on the end and thinks his spinners add power, but to frown on the 800hp stock car Toyota has produced? Don't know about that.

Now that the Cup series has the Chase for the cup, I don't believe there's anything "downhill" about Nascar AT ALL. I would like to see a few more road courses added to the schedule, and perhaps a track in the pacific northwest, but overall... Nascar has been the American racing series forever and will be around for ages to come.

BTW... go Kasey Kahne, Greg Biffle, and Bobby Labonte. ...My favs.

Ya know I'm not sure where I really stand anymore yes I admit that NASCAR is going downhill but I still love it. Its going downhill in the since that because there trying to make the cars safer (which is not a bad thing) but the way in which they are doing it aka the Car of Tomorrow. And its not specificaly Toyota I hate, just the car of tomorrow which looks like rice to me and I'm sorry but I associated it with Toyota since its another import car (keep in mind by import I mean foriegn owned) that is commonly turned into rice. And you know if they raced one or two more road courses I would'nt mind but they should be able to go real fast on these new courses which is what (the speed) attracted people to NASCAR way back then up till now. And NASCAR is taking away the speed by implementing the dreaded Car of Tommorow and by using restricter plates and by limiting engine size and many other things. I just wish they would realize that there are other ways of increasing safety with out attacking speed.
