Demolition Derby

Hey sorry if anyone thinks this in the wrong section, but it seems like the closest to where this should be since demo derby is neither street racing or drag racing but close to circle since there are dirt tracks and dirt is what demo derbys are done on. But either way deal with it (unless your a moderator then do what ever the hell you please with it.) But to get to the point my buddys and I plan on making a derby car for our annual county Demolition Derby which is during the county fair in early August. I am looking into an 80's police car which looks to be in good shape but doesn't run (nothing final yet I havent even talked to the dude about it). I would like your opinions on what kind of car to look for any idea having anything to do with demo derbys such as motors, anything mechanical or cosmetic, and etc. And thanks in advance.

motor something that can run and has torque an inline 6 or diesel engine is good. any kind of car that would be a boat is good, old 80's police car would be good especially if it has that big brush guard on it. Main thing you would want to protect is the radiator cause if you get hit and thats damaged your screwed.

Yep my buddy told me about the radiator thing and im gonnoa put some good size iorn behind the grill where it isnt easily seen just in case that kinda thing is illegal. But what is a brush guard. And Im pretty sure the motor has to be a gas engine with a carbuerater. And they wet down the the dirt in the lot (which is like a rodeo arena just smaller and out doors) so I think keeping it light would make it more maneuverable or would it?

oh well get a carbed in line 6 you want to launch hard at the other cars. Make sure the iron isn't going to bend in the middle though. A brush guard is that big metal cage looking thing on the front of trucks
like this

and light car will spin like crazy in wet mud you want a heavy car that won't spin.

Oh I wondered about that light car in the mud thing. But now I see what you mean about the brush guard. Where I live we call them grill guards or cattle guards (or wait maybe a cattle guard is somthing else but they are called a grill guard here). And I have one of those grill guards laying around or I could make a stouter one.

Na u dont want blunt spikes, that would put u at much more risk of gettin stuck to another car

and IMO u should use a mighty heavy car with a good strong V6 at least, the heavier your car the more impact you would make when hitting another car, and use some real knobby mud tires if they would fit since you'll be in mud, or actually they might have guidelines on what kind of tires you could use

Why not use a v8? And mud tires are allowed.

The motor. To wrap means to get up to speed or out of the low rpms. Its a hick thing around here in Kansas.
