4 speed

My grandson is racing a mustang in a ministock class for the first time and we are having a problem with the shift from 2nd to 3rd. The shifter locks up. Is it worn or another problem? 2.3 with a 4 speed

You should try posting this question in the 2.3 or foxbody tech section. It gets more traffic and the people are going to have more technical knowledge. If it were my tranny, I'd be suspecting internal issues. But I don't know anything about four speeds from these cars from the eighties.Hope it's not a big deal and good luck.
