Sprint Cars

Anyone care to discuss?

I think they're awesome!!! Especially the 410 class, but the 360 class is just as much fun.

We've got a couple tracks around Washington, and if you've never been to one near you, I suggest you take a few drinking buddies and hang out in the beer gardens and watch some spectacular racing.

My little sis is dating this guy:
Jason Cocking... #66 (360 class)

Haha the wrecks are fun too!

Kasey Kahne and Tony Stewart came up here to race last summer and my family and I hung out with them for quite some time.

Here. I'll furnish y'all a little proof that I'm not full of it. Here's my lil' sis with Kasey. Fun fun times...

Discuss if you wish

haha... yeah!

But I think people underestimate the 360/410 motors in these sprint cars. They do 0-100 in a blink of an eye, in the dirt... just imagine if they had slicks on and went to the 1/4's... they'd kill I'm sure. They only have 1 gear if I'm not mistaken, as you never hear them shift, (granted, automatic trannys) so they're simply high-hp high-revving beasts. Not to mention the power/weight ratio has to be incredible.

I'd love to take a left corner in the dirt going 80-100mph with the wheel cranked hard to the right all night long. How sweet would that be? Drifting is what is ever-so-popular nowadays, but this is where it all started. In the dirt/clay/mud.

if im not mistaken, im pretty sure sprint cars have nutral and what ever gear they set it up with.

i like the wingless sprints a little more cause theyre harder to drive without wings. none the less, all sprint cars are hard to drive.

terry mc carl is my favorite WoO driver.

sprint cars have an in/out box meaning you're either in gear or out of gear. this is why when they stop on the track, the officials sometimes have to rock the cars to get them out of gear.

they dont have transmissions. its straight from the motor to the in/out box to the rearend. we used to own one way back in the day.

Direct Drive is the term. And 410 Sprints are fuggin awesome. IMO the only thing worth watching on dirt... not bashing dirt racing.. but just isn't my thing.

And I've met and talked with Kasey Kayne before, he's pretty cool laid back guy unlike some of em.

I have an uncle that races minis at West Memphis Ark & have been going to watch him race & enjoy watching all classes but the sprints more than any other classes. Even the mini sprints look BADD ASS!! I have only drag raced but would love to try the dirt track racing out sometime. I would love to be able to drive a sprint car someday, Im curious of what kind & how much experiance do sprint car drivers usually have before actually racing one. Have most of them raced in other classes like stocks, Modifieds or open wheeled before? I figure alot of them have been racing dirt tracks for a long time before getting in a sprint car. I have heard they are quite a handful to drive at 1st & not nearly as easy as it looks. I love speed & driving fast & can see myself with alot of potential & maybe someday I will get a chance to start out with a mini stock or stock & give dirt track racing a try.

Just curious on average cost of building a sprint car, both 360s & 410s & even the mini sprints? What cost range are spent on just the cars not including extra tires & parts & other stuff?
