It's gotta look better then mine.
![]() ![]() I have the engine torn down at the moment, the heads are the only thing on the block. Here are my future wheels I called and got all the info and specs yesterday. Decided I'm gonna go with 18s

I like 67. Yours look better then mine for now. Mine runs good and fast, but it has some rust. Right now it is under a tree getting old.
Was your Mustang a I6 at one time? |

Don't think so. I'm hoping my step dad will bring me the cherry picker in the next week or two so I can pull out the block. Then I can find out if it's the original motor. Took off the starter still can't find the number
So till then plans are on hold. If it's not the original motor I'm droppin in a nice 302 a buddy of mine has already build. If it is the original motor then I'm gonna start rebuilding it with the money. I'll post some pics later of my progress.

Mustang motor #s don't match. Go ahead and do what you want. I was just thinking you car was a I6 because it did not say 289 on the fender. It don't matter because the bodys are the same.

The emblem on the fender says 289
![]() If the numbers don't match how do I tell if the engine is the original one then? Have to decode it?

I was thinking about a 66. They have them close to the front. With your motor, You don't. You can tell if your car came with a 289 and what year your motor is. Thats about it. Put the 302 in and put the 289 in the shed. What does the 302 have done to it?

Cam, rockers, heads, intake (no carb) pretty much all the stuff I wanna do to mine. Will the Tranny work on the 302?

It should, so yes. What kind of head work is done to it. Lots of power is found there.

I think they were rebuild, I really don't remember it's been a few months since I talked to the guy... and we were in a bar... I really think I'd rather just finsh rebuilding my 289. I've got it torn down, so I might as well just do it, plus that away I can use the parts I want and set it up just how I want it. And it's aways nice to be able to say I build that. I really don't like when you say, hey nice car, whas under the hood, and the guy goes...*shrug, I dropped it off at the shop and told em to make it fast.*

That works. I really like the 289. Get some 10 to 1 flat tops pistons and put over size vavles in the heads.

Why would he do a thing like that? Tell him that it is your dream car and you want to work on it. I hope you will not stop posting here. Keep us posted on what is going on with your Mustang.

I think, he just wants to help and figures since it will be winter time soon, he will have time to work on it, and his shop is heated. It really doesn't bother me now that I've thought about it alil more. I think it maybe a good idea. As far as posting here I will still, it's still my car. I think he is just looking for something todo, since his business slows down in the winter. Plus if I send it to the shop, I can bring up my ranger lowrider and park it in the garage :wink It gets hella better gas mileage then my 360ci dodge ram lol.

Glad to hear that your dad wants to help and you will warm. I like a auto if you are driving it everyday or making a drag car. My car is more of a street road race car. Its set-up for the more turns and I can drive it on the street and put it in 5th gear and drive 80mph and not kill it.
