Buying a Mustang

Who is out there that would like to buy a Classic Mustang? Have you ever wanted one and could not find one or liked the look, but wanted a newer car? What are the things you like about like a Classic Mustang and what are the things you don't like about a Classic Mustang?

I like that they are a Classic
you can do anything to them and no law man is going to give you a hard time.
Everyone looks at them
You can do the work youself to them.

I don't like that you can steal them easy
They are not real safe
Most of them have rust

This is just a start on the things someone can like and dislike.

+1,000,000,000,000!!

If you know what you are doing you can install switches to keep people from being able to steal your car. You can have several cut off switches, like, power to the starter, fuel pump, solinoid, ect. You can install alarms, Lojack, removable steering wheel.

Rust. If that classic you are looking at doesn't come with rust, it's outta your price range! floor boards/pans, frame rails, drip rails, doors (from the inside out!) and don't get my started on the wheel wells!

My 200ci I6 is a breeze to work on, let alone the minimal wires (compared to the thousands upon thousands in newer cars), I can do the entire oil change without getting under a car or using a jack! Pop hood, lay the pan down, position it with foot, remove cap, reach in and undo drain plug, unscrew filter, have a beer while draining, replace and refill all, have another beer for a job well done!

Thats funny about the oil change, lol.

All above is true. They are easy to work on and you can make them harder to steal and rust is something most Mustangs have. Its all in what you really want to live with. I live with it.

I miss head rests and shoulder straps. I miss air conditioning and nonmetal everythings during the summer. I dont like that any jackass could pop my hood and take whatever he wants. Or that if it takes you 60 seconds to steal this car, you're doing it wrong.

I love that I can work on my car. I love that when I step on the gas the car lets me know it has balls. I love not looking like every other car on the road. My insurance for my 65 mustang is even less than my 98 base model sentra. I got tags for two years for $32.00. When I drive by, heads turn.

But mostly I think its about being a member of the club. Every time I see an older mustang I give a wave or a nod, sometimes I'm the one returning the wave or nod. I have yet to see a classic mustang who hasn't acknowledged my pressence in this way. That I think is a lot cooler than the three people in the car next to you looking and pointing.

Yeah. Mine looked like total crap and It still turned so many heads, and commanded MANY waves from fellow first gen owners. There were a few times in the short two weeks I had my 66 on the road that I ended up at a light next to a 65/66/67 and got in a long convo about what was under each others hood.

I stopped for coffee and I ended up in an hour long convo with some guy who had just bought an 86 5.0 and was getting ready to buy a classic off his grandpa. I find stang guys the easiest to get along with. We talk slick about chevy guys, but they can still hang in the group. You rarely see a stang guy in a group of chebbies.

The best is pulling up next to a riced out whatever with the dudes GF in the pass seat and the look she gives you that just pisses the dude off even more than the fact that his car will never be as cool as yours!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

i am actually in the hunt for a 65 or 66 coupe. But with just having bought a second house, holidays and wedding coming up next year, that has been put on hold.

But if anyone finds a 65 or 66 body for cheap, let me know. The reason I say this is becuase I have a race shop built 289 with 400hp to the fly that needs a home.

i like the fact that it has very little interior and is just primered, but its got lots of power, a nice exhaust tone, a good sound system, and a damn footprint gas pedal!!!!!!!1

the one car that i would kill anyone for is a 69 vin boss 429... love the look

a guy in my town has just a rusted out shell with no engine drive train or anything and hes been getin offers of 50k + for it... if only i had the money

i did get lucky and found a college student at NC state who didnt know what he had and sold me a drivable 69 coupe with no rust. lol i got it and droped bout 10k in the drive train, engine, and the like. so im happy with what i got. vin 302, california track racer that spent the last 30 years in a widows garage in arizona...

needless to say the classic styling and lines are enough to catch anyones eye. if i dont get a thumbs up from the old guys i get glares... ide say its a good first car

I like the fact that not everyone has one. I feel Special when I'm driving down the highway and I'm getting better mileage at 75 then at 35. I love the fact that I can track the life of my car from the dealer to the widows house for 30+ years with the bingo/church drive every week. I love pulling into the cruse ins and knowing that someone is going to offer to buy my car. As previously stated, I love the looks I get from the ricer movement. They pull up, rev the tiny motor up and smile. Then I give it a little gas and it completely drowns out their noise/bass.

I hate getting 14mpg. That is my only dislike. I have Working a/c. and everything else is great.

I love the feel of a classic. My white 69 fastback had power steering, A/C, power breaks, and all that good stuff, and the blue one doesn't have any of that stuff. I like the feel of the blue one better because it's almost like the feel of a race car because it's so rigid. I love smelling like gas when I get out of it.

The blue car turns so many heads it's rediculous. When I go to the car wash, it takes a minimum of 3 hours because of the people that come ask questions.

I love cruising down city streets withthe windows down, smelling the fumes, shifting gears, and listening to the sound of the Magnaflows while I drive. My stang is the best stress reliever EVER.

A fact is a fact when you are cruising around you just feel like the biggest damn bad ass on the road. Nothing better.

Get damn hot in the summer and the g/f dosn't dig the gas smell but i sure do dig it.
