Racing seats in a classic

Hey guys,

When I bought my car it came with two corbeau racing seats that look good and I think will work in my interior untill I decide I want to do a real restore or something however the issue I am having is that the seats (with sliders) do not bolt onto the seat risers. I've seen several options to remedy this one being a custom complete slider kit to fit the mustang from corbeau for a hundred bucks a side or the cheaper adapter from them for only thirty bucks. My question is 1) has anyone here done this and what issues have you run into and 2) what way should I go do they work fine with the adapters on the stock risers or stop pinching pennies just get the complete kit. Thanks alot for the help.

Michael

So you got the complete kit? My real issue is that there are already sliders on the seats and so all I would need is to get it to bolt on correctly also do you have any sort of overhang issues on the risers? Thanks.

So the stock sliders fit onto the seat with out any need for an adapter? My real issue is I don't have the stock sliders so I'm either gonna use the corbeau ones on the seat or have to get some new ones. Sorry for all the questions but just was looking to get it right don't want the seat to come off while driving. By the way love all three cars.

The biggest problem I encountered putting Summit Sport seats into my '71 was the seat height. If I adaped the slider kit that I purchased with the seats to the stock seat platform, or adapted the stock sliders to the new seats, the seat sat too high. It was only an extra inch or so, but I'm 6'2" and that put my head in the roof. I had to remove the stock seat platform and fabricate a new one to work with the new sliders. I even gained an inch of headroom and another couple inches of leg room. It wasn't hard but there was alot of "head scratching" time.

I would look at buying the corbeau seat tracks, The only thing is the corbeau seats do sit high and dont have the leg room for tall guys.

For people that have not bought seats yet the ones that fit a Mustang Great are the

Procar Rally Series 1000 Seats 729.95 for a pair and mounting and the seat sits great.

Hi M1,
A friend told me that the Scat Ralleys make getting in and out of the car (64 1/2 Coupe) difficult without tilt-wheel. Is this really an issue?
Thanks,
Brian

With any side bolstred seats, You set your butt in frist. Once your in there great.

Im a larger guy and there not a big deal to get in. This is the only seat I found that moves back as far as the stock seat so the leg room is good.

So I've finally decided that the racing seats that I have (though convenient) Will mess up the look of my car (being mostly stock interior) So on the Procar seats what kinda belts are you using? just stock lap belts or what?

Thanks,
Karatecarrot
