A 5.4 is is not a 302, but to answer the question, yes it will fit. It takes some fabrication, and just barely squeezes in because a modular motor is considerably wider than a pushrod motor. There's a guy on here who has done it that can give you more info, and I'm sure he'll chime in tomorrow.

So What Would A 5.4l Be Considerd A 331? I Am More Familar With Chevy Not So Much Ford But Have Always Loved The Mustang And Am Very Serious About Making This Happen There Are Two Frames That I Am Lookin At A Fastback And A Gt Both Look The Same As Far As Under The Hood ,fender Walls Will Definitly Need To Be Cut As Well As Like U Said The Firewall,i Am A Novice As Far As Main Engine Work Goes But Understand This Will Definitly Take A Good Bit Of Time To Complete, gettin Older And Whanting To Find Anew Hobby Already Have The Engine And Trans Just Need The Car,thanks

Welcome to MM Forums

Here is our 4.6 in a 1968.

To do a 5.4 it is 3" wider than a 4.6 2" taller than a 4.6

for a 5.4 You have to remove the shock towers and move the master cylinder out 3 " and rasie the hood

Here is a link to our 5.4 fabrication for the Python 5.4

Here is more photos of the 4.6 Anaconda

ahhhh that's right. You did a supercharged 4.6. I was thinking that black car had a 5.4, but I remember that now.

A litre is roughly 61 cubic inches, so a 5.4 is somewhere around 330 cid. The numbers you are talking about are old school engines that aren't produced by the factory anymore.

Ok So You Are Saying That The Shocks Dont Have To Move Only The Shroud Around Them Correct, So I Would Just Cut Away The Round Part And Make It Flush ,right Mustangone?

Yes, You have to take out the shock towers out, and go to a Mustang II style front end.

If you look at the photos I posted 50 photos showing how to do it.

Yes it will fit rather easy, the only problem is squeezing the headers in but they have alot of companies that make special headers that fit.... a 5.4 is a 351 cu.in. I have had one that I installed for about 10 years now in my 65 fastback, runs great with lots of torque.....

A 5.4 is not a 351. A 5.4 is a modular motor that is nothing like a convential 351. The OHC makes the physical deminsions MUCH larger across the heads than a pushrod motor. Like i posted earlier, 1 litre is roughly 61 cu in making the 5.4 around 330 cid, but modulars are a whole different game than a pushrod motor. It will not fit without major modification.

You have to put a Mustang II front end in it, which is wayyy more than motor mounts.

This is a 5.4 Motor

Here is what our motor mounts look like.

in this form section go to ok I'm doing it and you will see a dohc 5.4 shelby engine and 6 spd setup in a 68 convert. I can't post pictures here for some reason but the mustang 2 setup is not the way to go you loose alot of strength in the front this car will be is vegas in april going on the tour to ala. if you email me I can send more photos and also tell you how to do it. It is NOT AN EASY sway and does require alot of engineering to pull it off right. We have six figures in this car already and it isn't finished yet. WE just finished a 40 merc with the same drive train. It takes around 20 grand to hook up the motor and make it run. Ford has just come out with a wiring kit for them but it is 1800 alone email me and I will help you out. RED
