went for a ride
Today was my first drive in the car since i bought it. Here are the "bad" things that i noticed:
1. Car is extremly hard (almost imposible) to get into 1st gear. 2. When i let off the gas pedal, the accelarator butterfly valve on the carborator stays open. 3. Rear shocks/springs are shot completly. 4. There is cold air coming from somewhere by the pedals. (it was 25 degrees outside) 5. Brakes suck big time (needs a disk conversion) 6. Belt is wining like its about to snap (its a brand new belt) I would appreciate it if you guys have any idea on how to fix all of that.

There is a vent under the dash area that might be open. My belt used to do that after we put a new alternator on. Just tighten it up real good. Check your pads, brake fluid on for the brakes. Also maybe think about upgrading to a dual master cylinder, if you don't go disk. My old carb had that problem. I called it cruise control since it would keep me at the same speed.
So yours doesn't have 1st synchronized then. My grandfathers 66 sprint does

As far as the transmission i think that i will take it to a shop and see what they say cuz i think that it is a bit beyond me.
The carburator i have a spring on order to see if that is gonna fix it. Shocks i need to replace - u r right they are cheap and i think that i will be able to swap them out without a problem. For the cabin insolation, i have all the seals and they seem to be ok. I just didnt see any vents on the firewall. Maybe i need to look more carefully. But my stearing column seal is good, accellarator seal is good. and i cant see any light coming when i open the hood in the sun. Brakes like i said i know that i have to swap What do u mean to check if this is the correct pitch. I dont know how to tell. the belt is very tight no slack what so ever. Thanks guys

The shape of the v belt well it is in the shape of a V ...
The point of the belt is to narrow and bottems out before the sides of the belt can bite on the sides. You need a belt with a fatter bottem |
