Rear end broke in half!!! =(
We just got our 65 mustang on the road and i guess the 5.0 we built for it is a little to powerful for that little 8" rear end the car had... I got on it off the line and it snapped in half!! haha ok, so my question is what rear end will bolt directly into the 65 with limited slip and disk brakes. I NEED HELP!!!!!

A good 8" Rebuilt. Or a the same width 9" rear end Rebuilt
a 5.0 will not break a good rebuilt 8" even with 5:56 Gears with slicks Im beating it was a 7.5" rear end that came with the 6 cyl. |

Crown Vic? you looking for a 8.8 rear end
you can buy a 9" from jegs ![]() Link to 9" currie rear end for a 1965 Just saying a good rebuilt 8" does not break that easy. |

Put it on jackstands and save your money for a 9", it will be worth it in the long run.

sounds to me like you just had a worn out rear.the 8 inch is a very strong rear.

In the junk yard, find a 8 or 9 out of a 75-80 Ford Granada or Mercury Monarch or any Lincoln Versailles. They will bolt in and are only 3/4" wider overall than the 65/66 rear. Versailles will be a 9 with disc brakes. I pulled my rear from a monarch and it was a 9 with disc brakes and Trac Loc.

Isn't the explorer offset a little bit? I don't think the "center section" is in the center...
You might have to "massage" your trans tunnel a bit, too. I hope I'm wrong. Steve |

The fronts aren't, I am fairly sure the rears are in the center.

well it is dead center, but thw front right behing the yoke is like an inch or two off to the right, so all im really going to have to do is move one of my muflers over a little bit because its in the way, but other than that it seems to be pretty close.
