67 mustang 8 inch or 9 inch?


what did the 289 67 mustang have stock? an 8 or 9 inch rear end?

Not sure but if you wanna check the 8 is flat on top and the 9 is rounded

by top do you mean the lid you can see from the rear or the actual top?

the actual top like get under the car and run your hand alone the top of the differential if it is flat it is an 8

Could've been either one from the factory.
Big block cars ('67 was first year for FE's in Mustangs) had 9" rings.
Mine did.

ya mine was a c code factory 289 2 bbl, but it was in so many dif hands and didnt have the origional 289, plus it had been drag raced and has air shocks (stock? i dont think they are but idk) and someone added traction bars and a dual exhaust with glasspacks along the way. its possible it has been upgraded to the 9 inch i suppose

I would say it's an 8 unless someone was doing some really hardrcore stuff with it would you need to upgrade to a 9 inch. I mean i was lookin into getting an 8.8 for my jeep so i upgrade from a d35. just my two cents . . .

well i dont know if i need to go 9 or not cuz ive just completed an engine swap. ive got a 351w pushing 350hp and 400+ lbs-ft
