Ignition Swap

Getting ready to do my DSII swap on the mustang. Been running like crap and my MPG suck. So I am performing the swap over the weekend and hope it helps. Will keep you guys updated.

Dizzy - $50
Module - $25
Rotor - $4
Cap - $9
Wireset - $22
Some extra pieces - $13.50

Still waiting on the Cap adapter to get here. That will be around $11 and I also need some vacuum tube for the vacuum advance and that will probably be $5.

Will end up spending about $142.

Few other parts I have/are coming - New rear shocks($30) and chrome monte carlo bar($25 shipped).

Well I have everything supposedly wired correctly. But I am not getting any volts to the starter relay even though the battery reads 12V. Did I fry my relay? Battery cable is hooked up.

Well we finally got it started after 2 days. Had to get a new coil since I burned up the old one. That is 2 in less than 2 months.

Never will I do this kind of swap again to much of a pain for me.

I won't be needing anything for it anymore. Made the decision yesterday after breaking down again it was time to sell. I'm staying with the mustangs though. Looking at 99-04 mustangs. Need a dependable DD. will get another classic after college.

I've broken down about 10-12 times now.

Not in college yet. I'm a junior in HS, but this will definitely be my college ride. Already have plans for mods.

Burned up another coil. Also battery is bubbling so we think voltage regulator is shot also.

So far it has burned up a Flamethrower II coil, MSD Blaster 2 coil, and old original looking coil.

How many volts are going to you coil? it needs to be around 9V sounds like you are getting 12V or more . You might need to add a balast resistor in line to your coil.

In the swap it said it needed 12v. It was having 15V+ when it blew both coils over the weekend.

Classic Inlines

The swap made no sense to me and my dad. We rewired it with the resistor attached and we are getting around 14V max now to coil. Gone 2 days without burning up a coil. The mustang just sits now. Dad bought a newer truck and I got his so I am not driving the mustang anymore.
