1970 302.
hey im not really new to the forums, but i first started with 97 v6, and now i feel its time to move on and get something new. i found a 1970 mustang for fairly cheap only thing is it needs a floor pan to be pput in (which the guy has) and could use fresh paint. the thing is the stang is about 6 hours away, how hard would it be to put the floor pan in with basic tools could i jack it up and use a portable welder ive never put on a pan before so i have no idea, worst case scenario the guy said the floor only had a small hole in it but would be drivable back home and we could find something to put over it, but would the pan fit on the rack of my moms pt cruiser, i have no truck i could use. and a small idea if this all goes as planned after the floors get put in id want to undercoat the bottom of the car and get a fresh grabber green paint job, and sometime after that would itbe acceptable to stroke the 302-347?

Welcome to the Classic Side...
![]() Floor pans are not bad to install. The hard part is the get the old one out and prep for the new one. ![]() After the old one is out, trim the new one to fit and pop revite it in and weild in place. It is that simple. |

its goingto be a daily driver, but today i went to go checkout a 72 that was pretty much local, this car was really nice, not originol, but really nice. the downside was no power steering and no power brakes :[ any way of changing that?

Both on a 72 are real easy fixes.
A 72 has the good power steering that is in the steering box. Power brake is as easy as adding a power brake booster. What motor does it have? |

it has a 302 that came out of a 68 i think, the motor was in a scj car and the guy with the cobra wanted to make it a true cobra so he sold the 302.
its really that easy? because if it is ill probally be picking it up

the only way is if it has a Q in the 5th digit of the vin number. and in 72 the biggest motor would of been a 351C.
but no 302 was SCJ in any year. SCJ were a 428,429 & the Q code 351C in 71 & 72 |

haha sorry i should have clarified some things, the 302 was pulled out of another mustang not sure of the year and was put into what was a rolling shell of a scj, then the guy wanted to put a scj engine back into it, so he sold the 302 and it got put into the 72 i have a picture of it which ill post up.
