Project 66Stangster
Hello all,
A little about myself, I'm 57 and have been toying with cars trucks since I was 13. Lots of projects through the years have come and gone. The one I have been working on for the last bunches of years is a 1970 C-10 pickup. I've had it probably longer than some of Y'all are old. (22 years) Bagged mild build on motor. Shaved, electric windows door openers etc. etc. Here's todays project. and I have no Ford knowledge.. Last Ford was a 1967 Cougar in 1969.. The first month is going to be a Cleansing period. Tearing it totally apart, cleaning, sandblasting then powder coating and reassembly of the small pieces. I have been doing some research on early Stangs. They sell some pretty cool various stages of "kits" to put it back together. The first kit I'll buy when I get to it will be suspension. But here's a couple of shots seeing what we have. (We; I and a 15 year old Grandson) The beginning of; Project “66-STANGSTER” I picked this Mustang body up from a guy that it was given to by his Grandparents. It was a great running 6-Cylinder car. It had very decent sunshine yellow paint. But as we do, This guy decided he wanted to make it his way..... First was the motor, that is after he blew the I-6 up.... I could tell a story in itself just about this guy and his Mustang But that’s not what this is about.. I purchased the car with no Engine, Transmission, Radiator, Driveline or Hood. The (we’ll refer him as the P.O. (Previous owner) The P.O. had installed new front suspension springs, KYB shocks plus along with some other front end parts. He went to a Granada donor and installed the 5 lug disc brake set up Albeit the rotors were worn and ridged. Interior was pretty well gone from the Nevada sun, and no prevention. Windshield had wear marks from where the P.O. had not changed out the wipers and it went to Metal to Glass! The metal won the battle. Fast Forward to Today................. Here’s some photos of “Stangster”.. The rear, look at the garbage protruding from within the interior ![]() The P.O had began to to some front suspension work, I wish I knew what it was. ![]() Ratted out front seats. ![]() Driver side, This thing is straight. ![]() Looks Lonely in there... ![]() ****, I found some rust!! ![]() A disc 5 lug conversion done with Granada components. ![]() Last here today, I found a Dent!! I enlarged this, it's on the rear wheel opening. I think the aftermarket piece will cover it. This will be it for this session.

Clean looking car. I'm VERY jealous that a car can sit in Nevada and not completely rust like in Indiana. I fixed up a 66 and the only original metal is the cowl, 1 outer rocker panel, and engine bay. NIGHTMARE!!
It should be a good project.

Welcome to MM Forums...
Very Nice car to start with, the 1966 stang is a very easy build. You can buy everything for it and the parts are cheap. Here is a link to Alot of the Restorations I have Done. I have step by step photos on how to build them. If can help let me know. Classic_Mustang_Restorations |

Man that thing is perfect...for renovation. I mean it's not ostensibly neglected. Looks like a great project. Best of luck!

Thanks guys,
I'm excited to get going on it . I'm researching Mustang parts supply houses, Places to buy interior, Carpet and the such. I have a friend that drives a cab, He's put in a good word for me with his boss on me buying a wrecked Cab for the motor and tranny from it. I figure Y'all probably have some parts That I need and of course there's Ebay. I'm putting together a "Buy list" for what I need. Ron I |

I buy from Mustangs Unlimited. Reply to emails quickly, good prices, quick shipping, lets you know if the item is in stock.
I wouldn't buy from CJ. They don't reply to emails quickly, don't tell you what is in stock, don't tell you when stuff ships, won't tell you when parts are backordered, charge you for the item that is back ordered, and have no clue when the backordered item would show up or ship to you.

Eh, I wouldn't order from them either in that case. That would never fly at my place...

CJ's has been good and bad to me, I have ordered alot from them. For the good times I get my stuff when they say it will be here and ect, also pretty qick on shipping. However the few bad experiences I had with them were, once I was supposed to get an idler arm in my suspension and steering kit. It didn't come with it, so I called and they sent it out to me but charged me for it so I had to call them back and get that fixed. They sent my parking light kit to my old place, but in the email they had my current address. I went to my old house and was lucky enough to get them. Also the back order thing. Some of my parts were on back order and I was not informed until my parts got to my house and I opened the box they were. At which time I found a list of what on back order but no date at when I would get them. As far as the emails go... I don't like emails. I always call, I like to talk to a real person. With CJ's I have not been put on hold and they are pretty well informed and friendly which is always a big plus.
I have also used NPD but found them to be a little pricier

I think I ordered from NPD once, and never did again because the parts were CHEAP and beat up when I got them.

what year cab 1992 and later crown vics have a 4.6 much wider than the 289/302 you will have to cut shock towers and replace front end mk2 (heides) to make it fit. it can and has been done just a lot of work. curtis
