Engine ID
Where would I find ID numbers on a 289, and would those numbers correspond with the cars vin? I was also wondering if the numbers would tell me anything about the engines original make up. The only thing I've found on the engine so far is the words is Edelbrock performance 289 on the manifold, I'm guess this is an aftermarket part.

The casting # is on the block around where the starter is located. I'm not exactly sure when they started putting the VIN on the engines though.
