1967 coupe how much, 289 engine

hey i just found a new car,

1967 c code coupe, it has i pretty sure a 289 engine how am i to be sure this isnt a 302 engine? also it only has a carb with 2 valves, if i put one with 4 on it how much more power am i looking at?

can anyone give me a rough estimate of what this car is worth, no structural rust, little surface rust, interior ok...just a clean car, i just want to know if i am being ripped off?

it costing me $ K regerstered, running with minimal repars needed to be done.

Do you have any pictures? What about mileage? Is it matching numbers? All of these things have an effect on value. Also, the owners knowledge plays a part too.

A 4brl carb will help out, I'm not sure how much, but it will help.

Around me, it would probably bring about 7,500-8,500. But That is just a rough guess.

I was thinking closer to $5,000, but sometimes I live in dream land too.

7500-8500 sounds high for a coupe unless it's perfect. I must live in the same dream land, because I'd have to say the 5000 range too.

I would say 6 500ish depending on the amount of rust. That would be the pricce around Iowa if the car was very solid.

Well, all the cars around me are trashed and rusted out. I am just going off prices around me.

If it's in good shape and it has the original engine, then it is most likely a 289. I'd say for a 67 coupe in good running condition, around my area, would bring around $7000.00. Just make sure that the body is in very sound condition. Use a magnet if you have to. You can buy new interior kits to recover everything. Again, just look over the body really well; trunk area & floor pans. As far as the 4-barrel goes, it will help a little, but might not be worth the effort, unless you do other things to the engine. Hope this helps.

4 barrel carb will need a intake and a mild street cam to really help it.
