Question

Custom '69 Mach 1

Ok, im about to start a project restoring/customizing a 69 mach 1. My only probleme is, for me to be able to do what I want, i have to drop a new motor in it.
Now I was thinking maybe a 2004 gt or a 2003 cobra svt, if i could find one. But i was just wondering if:
1. Has anyone else done this?
2. Is there enough room on the 69 chasis?
3. What would be the best motor to get the maximum performance out of it easily and fairly cheap.

while do-able the "fairly cheap" part is very scary. this WILL NOT be an easy or cheap swap, either in the initial cost of the motor & trans, or in all the support part's/electronics. best bet IMO is a carbed 351w based stroker/c-4 combo. either way good luck.

No way would I waste my time with a 2 valve 2004 Gt motor. You could make way more power for way less money with a 302 or 351W based engine, and as mentioned above, there will be nothing cheap about this type of build.

Welcome to MM Forums...

Yes you can do it, Cheap it is not. more power can be made cheaper with a push rod motor.

We are making 692 RWHP with our set up and only cost 23k to set the front end and motor and trans up for this project.

We use a 2004 cobra motor 32 valve and a Kenny Bell Supercharger TKO 5 Speed

More phots of the ride here.

Yes it can be done with time and money if thats what you want. Google the 04/69 project these guys mated a 04 cobra with a 69 stang and it turned out alright. You can mix the old with the new if thats what you like. Go for it. And let us know I ponder the same thought at times.
