Bet

Me and my friend have a bet. Basiclly he bet his engine against my car. It's a stupid silly bet that neither of us would collected on so it's just claim bragging rights. So here's the Question. Can you put a 289 intake on a 351w just by changing out to 289 hipo heads. If not, explain why.

so what your asking if you can put a 289 intake on a 351 with 289 heads? if you put the 289 heads on there then yes you can but if you just have 351 heads then no.

No, The 351W block deck hieght is almost 1" taller than a 289/302.
This makes the intake almost 1.5" wider that a 289/302 intake.

you would also have to drill the 289 headbolt holes.

I was going to say... Think of the engine as a V ( because it is lol ) the 289/302 intakes sit lower in the V than the 351w intakes do. This makes them more narrow. changing the heads out is not going to change the spot where intake goes on any.

Now I know you could use 289/302 heads on a 351w because the intake and everything lines up, but like 460 said. Drilling is required.

Yea I already knew the answer, but it was useless going back and forth with my friend that's why I wanted to get backed up.

Thanks.
