C4 ?'s

I am in the process of removing my tranny from my '66 stang due to an annoying leak that I just can't stand any longer. I don't want to pull it again (2nd time already) so I was wondering what else should I do to it while it is out? It is currently a stock C4 with the exception of a B&M shift kit and Hughes 2500 rpm stall. The car will always be streetable but the intent is to eventually run some descent 1/4 mile times with it. With that in mind, what are most people doing to there C4's? Also, mine is the "green dot" trans., is there a way to change that to a typical 1,2,3 shift? Thanks for any thoughts or opinions.

If I recall correctly I some valve bodies on Ebay that will change it to 1,2,3, shift. They were around 300 bucks each.
I think it was Redneck racing or something like that.
However, you could by a later model tranny for 300 bucks. And sell that one to someone looking for matching numbers.

Adjust the bands while you are at it. The adjusting bolts are on the outside of the tranny. 1 on each side.
Lossen the lock nuts and crank the adjusting bolt down to 10 foot pounds of torque. Basically a just tight, then back off 1 3/4 turns.

How do you like that shift kit?
I have a '76 c4 in my 65 with a stage 3 shift kit(123 full manual) and also stock valve body.
I bought the stack valve body on Ebay for $28.00. Now I want to put in a shift improver or stage 2 shift kit.

Install a larger servo..."H" or a "C"..will make it shift harder..
