Posted over on TMS. Ford wouldn't upgrade the GT500 to an aluminum block for 1 year and then go 5.0. Also the supposed TT 5.0 was to have 500HP which is less than the 5.4l SC in the GT500 now. Would make no sense to drop HP.

The GT500 gets the aluminum block which drops about 100lbs. Maybe they will increase HP too. I think it would be better to see a TT 5.4.

Not necessarily. If the swap allowed them to lose enough weight that the newer, lower hp car was faster and got better fuel economy, then it makes sense.

And plenty of examples of 500+ hp turbo 2.0Ls are out there, too.

I'd be willing to bet that if they do sell a turbo motor, it'll be stock at around 6-8 lbs of boost, and they'll be good to at least a full bar (14.7 lbs) on stock internals.

By my very rough math, 500 crank hp with 6-8 lbs of boost would mean ~330 hp motor before boost, which would mean just shy of 600 crank hp for that motor with 14 lbs of boost, or about 520whp if you assume 12.5% drivetrain loss. And that's JUST playing with boost.

The 03-04 Cobras were around 385 or so to the rear wheels at stock PSI (9 I think).

I know what you posted, just I don't know what they are rated. I did know what the 03-04 cobras were so I posted that up.

Yes, the 01 cobras were rated at 320.
