tranny conversion

Ok so i found a few places to get me my tranny swap if i had the manual to begin with but i dont i need all the parts from the factory car to make it a manual. where can i get this stuff.Oh btw i have a 72 mustang sprint. looking to do tranny, suspension and brake conversions. Mondernize the old if you know what i mean. where is the best place for all of this stuff. For the tranny i need one that can handle som serious power. The one i found is good for 450 but i want more. Im shootin for around the 600 range or more. For the suspension i want performance and agressive stance, and for the brakes i wand disc for rear and larger for both. this will take time and money I know but im starting the process. Any help would be much appreciated.

go out and buy the latest issue of mustang monthly. It has advertisements for all of the parts you are talking about. this way you can compare prices from the different companies as well as learn what companies have what. A lot of them offer free catalogs as well.

Sounds like you are wanting a manual transmission but have an automatic, you don't really say it. Well it sounds like you want to get rid of the auto tranny. You will need a clutch pedal, and new brake pedal or cut the pad down so it doesn't overlap the clutch pedal. For the clutch actuator if you want stock you will need a Zbar and hardware. Make sure you have the threaded boss for the pivit on your block. Newer blocks after 85 didn't have it. Or, you could use a clutch cable or hydraulic setup to clean things up. You can either use the old short bellhousing or run a newer T5 bellhousing deending on your transmission selection. For 600hp I recommend a Tremec TKO600 or a Viper spec T56.
I have some ideas for suspension but I can't post URLs yet because I'm a newby. I have recommendations but I don't know what you're building the car for, drag racing or roadracing? I like big sway bars and the car to handle well. Disc brakes, there are a lot of kits out there. If you run rear disc brakes make sure you swap in a master cylinder meant for 4 wheel disc.

you are right i have a fmx auto trannyin my car and i dont want it i want a manual. i want my car for all around performance. it will mostly be driven on the street. but everynow and then i might want to take her to the track and open her up.maybe some track maybe some drag. where might i find the parts that you are talking about for the manual swap. i believe i have a 69 winsor motor, so how do i find out if it has that part you are talking about? and i probably would prefer a hydraulic setup. what do i need for that. and where is a good place to get all of it? also do you know if i do the brembro brake conversion for the front and rear if i have to do the rear disc brake set up seperately?

Well, to make things easier on you, if you have the money buy the kit. I'm poor, but I know what to do to get things to work so it saves me piecing everything together myself. If you are sure you are running 600hp you are going to want a tranny to handle it. TKO600 would be a good choice. You will need a clutch pedal assembly. This will be a clutch/brake pedal hanger assembly for your car or compatible, maybe 71-73 are the same, I don't know for sure. You will need your driveshaft shortened, and a custom transmission crossmember installed.
A hydraulic clutch setup; you have several options here. You can use a hydraulic slave cylinder or a hydraulic throwout bearing(clutch release bearing). I would recommend the later for simplicity.

This kit below would be exactly what you needed.

All you would need is pedals, and driveshaft shortened.

For disc brakes, you can install the front and rears together. They won't sell as 1 items, you buy the front kit, and the rear kit. Good thinking, a fast car is no fun if you can't stop it.

Well, to answer your question; I supose if the Brembo conversion requires the rht disc conversion first then you'll have to do it. I don't have Brembo brakes on any of my cars. I didn't know they made brakes for early Mustangs and I've never heard of the rht disc conversion. But, nowadays there are plenty of disc brake options available. I would call Brembo for this one.
