1966 Mustang/SVO 2.3 turbo

Here is a Mustang I highly modified for my daughter. It is a 66 Mustang that I put a slightly modified 2.3 Turbo out of a SVO Mustang with a A4ld trany with a lock-up converter. To get the engine to fit in the car I had to remove the shock towers. So I put a Heidt's IFS front suspension, subframe connectors, frame stiffener and 4 link rear suspension. The car has over 300hp to the rear wheels and gets around 30 mpg depending on how you drive it. There are over 780 pictures of the build on this web site. If you start here and work your way forward you can see the car come together.

Or here is a video tour of the car.

It took me 2 years to build this car and I did everything on this car myself with the exceptions of putting the front and rear widows in, (a friend that does it for a living did it for me), I had help with putting the upholstery on the front seats (another good friend that just happens to own a upholstery shop) and wiring in the FAST fuel injection brain (that was done by Horsepower Connection in OLympia Wa.)

How's that A4LD holding up? Is it stock or built?

I ask because I killed one of those twice in less than a year with an N/A 2.3L, so I don't see how one would hold up for very long behind a 300hp turbo motor.

Gorgeous car!

The car only has 1000 miles on it right now. I had the trany built with all the up grades so it will hold up. The trany has a 3 year, 30,000 mile warrantee on it. He told me if anything ever happens to it bring it back and he will fix it for free. I had to take it in once because the converter did not hold up and he replaced it with a heavy duty converter. It has held up so far on the dyno. But we will see what happen this spring and summer. With my daughter it should be fine. But with me??? By the way I told the trany guy that the car would have close to 400 hp to the wheels and he said not a problem.

Thanks guys. This car you really need to see in person to really appreciate all the work that is done to it. When it is sitting there 98% of the people do not even notice all the suspension work I did and it is surprising how many people do not notice the shock towers are missing. Mind you some of these are hard core early mustang people also. You wold be surprised how may people say, I did not know they built a mustang with a 4 cylinder in it back then.

What do you mean, you did the same thing? Did you put a 2.3 turbo into a 65-66 Mustang?
