390 Intake install, BOO BOO??????

Hey all. I was putting new heads on my 65 with the 390. Well we made a boo boo tonight. We got the heads on and the intake then looked on the floor and saw the BAFFLE thing that was to go under the intake, not the pan attacked to the bottom of the intake but the plate that lays under that with the holes for the valves.
Does this HAVE to be in there? What will happen it it is left out? It is on a 1965 Tbird that will not see much driving time.

That is a splach shield, sounds like the motro came out of a police car. I know mine a 67 didn't have one of those. As long as it all sealed up you should be fine. I don't envy you you just completed a back breaking job. I think you will be fine.
