67 Coupe Suspension Options

I'm new to the Mustang crowd and i'm in need of some suggestions. I just bought a 67 coupe roller that has the original 8" in the rear and had a powersteering conversion done to it with the original front suspension. I've read through some post and recommended websites but still can't decide.

I'm performance minded but the care will be mostly on the street with occasional days at the track. I don't want to spend more than about $1000 bucks on everything for the front end.

The options i've come up with is redoing original parts and getting a spring and shock package to match my needs and going to disc brakes on the front or I found basically a Mustang II front end kit complete with disc brake conversion from Helix for about $1000 off of ebay.

Any better suggestions or am I going completely the wrong way?

Welcome to MM Forums....

For me there is only one way to go here. It is not as hard as you would think. But the change to the old Mustangs ride and handling is so dramatic you will think you are driving a new Stang! With all the stuff is comes with is a savings over just buying rack & pinion, Disc brakes, front suspension, & Coil over shocks.

The kit comes with: $2495
-Frame reinforcing plates

- Steel inner fender panels

-Jig welded crossmember

-Upper a-arm and shock mounting tower

-Urethane bushed upper and lower tubular a-arms

-Kick ass Urethane bushed Motor mounts for a 289,302,351 or 4.6 & 5.4 Mod motor

-Total Cost Involved Custom IFS dropped spindles

- Bolt-on steering arms for correct turning radius and ackerman

-Standard Power rack & pinion

-TCI All American coilover shocks with adjustable spring tension and black powder coated springs

-Eleven inch vented smooth rotors

-Detailed instuctions showing how to remove old suspension and install the new TCI unit

Just look at all the room it gives you....

I did not see the $1000 kit on ebay, you might want to post a link to it.

This kit is Really worth saving up the money for it.

Thanks, here is the link to the auction on ebay: I saw the same kit from the same seller go for $1000 on a previous auction but it doesn't include the rack and pinion.
64-70 Ford Mustang CUSTOM IFS Front End SUSPENSION KIT : eBay Motors (item 170449755528 end time Feb-28-10 19:50:04 PST)

It could be crap or just to good to be true. I'm not finding a lot of reviews on Helix Suspensions, just one for Classic Truck Magazine I think.

I would love having the extra room by taking out the shock towers.

Have you been to the strip with your set up and do yo like it?

The Kit I use Drive and races Great. It really does great road racing. Make the old Mustang Drive like a new car.

On the kit you are showing, It is a good example of you get what you pay for, In the long run they will cost the same. It is missing a few things.

1. Sway Bar
2. Shock tower delete plates
3. Coil Springs
4. Rack & Pinion
5. Motor Mounts

With the Kit I sell it comes with Free Shipping.

Good Luck.
