thanks guys,,i just washed it the other day , i took it to a local mustang classic shop and i had the guy listen to the engine, he said everything sounded fine, but he recommended that id get a compression test on the engine, the price at the shop is 90 for the compression test,,this shop specializes in classic mustang, but i wanted to get some feedback from you guys before i went on and paid this much...please let me know, im a newbie to the classics

Does the motor run fine for you?

What a compression test will tell you is how close you are to needing a motor rebuild.

At our shop a compression test cost $60. But you are in California.

You are looking at the the heater core in the the heater.

It is a easy fix, The heater core you can get at napa or pep boys auto parts store. $18 bucks.

Get 8 Feet of 5/8 heater hose while you are there.

Take the two coolant lines lose, unplug the blower motor, and the 4 bolts holding it in and you can remove the entire assembly from under the dash. Much easier to do it on a bench or the ground than in the car. Be careful removing some of the clips holding it together, they can break the surrounding fiberglass.

At least it's not a heater core on a 69! I still haven't done mine because it's a huge ordeal. Yours is much easier.

You can rent a compression tester at any parts store and do it yourself. It's simple and should take less than an hour. If you do it, post your results.

Make sure you clean out your carpet of any liquid sitting down there. You dont want it to rust down the road. What shop did you take it to? Im also in San Diego.

Compression tests are easy. I would do it yourself if you can.

You just give them a deposit, then they give it back when you return the tool, so basically it's free.
