You can give a donation to his childrens foundation-about 250.00 and he will sign it. You have to mail it to the foundation with a check. Takes about 4-6 weeks to get it back. I recommend doing it soon if you want his signature on a piece of your car or a poster. Frankly, i am amazed that he is still here.

the car looks great man but please please please tell me you went behind and redid all the body work that unique performance did because one of the reasons they went out of bussiness is because they did shitty body work, they would use gallons and gallons and gallons of bondo on each car and from some of the people who have talked to the builders at shows like sema they have bragged about using as much as 16 gallons of bondo on one car alone. people complained about their cars literally falling apart after a few years because the bondo was letting go

I bought three of the unique cars-not a bit of bondo. Those were all rumors. I know first hand-look at the pictures-no bondo. Shitty welds in non structural areas, but no bondo. They were put out of business for legal reason not related to the build of the cars-swapping VINS and not completing work on time. I have detailed pictures of the two 67 fastbacks that i purchased and the 68 convertible. I know several people that purchased cars and they had zero issues with what you call bondo. It was more a matter of timely assembly more than anything else. Remember, when you hear things at shows, from people who are supposed to be "experts", take them with a grain of salt. if you had looked at the cars that went up for sale at the two auctions you would have seen that they had them on jigs during the initial build process where they were taking out all of the bad metal correctly and replacing it in the correct manner with new metal. Were the welds great in all cases, no, was the bodywork perfect, no, but there was zero bondo on the cars i purchased. Only adhesive to bond the panels to the cars. Do all of these cars eventually have some bondo on them-better damn believe it, but do you have any idea what it would take to use over a gallon of bondo, let alone 16??? that is just retarded. Not trying to jump on your case, but use some common sense.

Good bodywork and welds
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bad welds in the wheelhousing area-the only area. Some of the cars had some pretty crappy welds in the floor pans, but not any of mine.

sounds like you got a few of the good cars but i wasnt talking about people who were "experts" i was talking about stories people have told who talked to the actualy builders of the cars at Unique Performance
and here is a link to an autoblog story telling how Unique Performance used Texas State Inmates and several gallons of bondo per car Unique Performance used prisons and buckets of Bondo to build Mustangs — Autoblog and other just as credible sites have similar stories all over the web |

Well, i can tell you that i looked at 80 mustang shells at both auctions. the cars were in various forms of completion, but none of them had more than a skim coat of bondo in certain areas-mostly around where the body panels had been added.
Credible sites? These are just blogs and i wouldnt call them credible. Most of the stories came from disgruntled ex employees that didnt get paid on time. They werent using gallons of bondo! If you know anything about bodywork, you know that it would be impossible to use that much body filler unless you were building a car out of it. I remember the reporters freaking out over body panels made in Taiwan. ha where do you think most of the reproduction parts come from? Unique was using prisoners as an outreach program and it was something that the State of Texas organized with them. Unique went out of business for bad business practices and for title washing. They were rebuilding these cars from the ground up using all new sheet metal in some cases. Some of the older shells had salvage titles. How do you sell a 180,000 car with a salvaged title. I know that the cars they did manage to complete had problems with the overheating, electrical and some other mechanical problems with the shelby aluminum blocks and the stack injection systems. In addition, Unique did not seal the metal work behind the fenders on the sides of the cowl correctly on some of the cars and the metal did start to form surface rust, which started draining out of the lower portion of the fender in front of the doors. go to this site if you want to learn more about the problems that afflicted the completed unique cars. And if you dont believe me on the bondo issue, shoot this company an email and they will confirm that they did not use gallons of body filler. http://www.revvedautoconcepts.com/Un...nce_Shell.html Last edited by 67svtstang; April 28th, 2010 at 12:33 AM. |

16 gallons on one car?!?! Yeah, I don't think so. Like the man said, that's pretty much impossible. Can't believe everything you read on the internet.
Any new pics or updates?........

Unfortunately i dont have much to report. I am still waiting the rear axle bumper bracket and the new 9" housing. I have been tinkering around with a few things in the interior and the tires are mounted on the wheels, but other than that nada. I had a rear end blow up in a 66 corvette that i had just completed and i have been working on the 65 fastback that i purchased a week ago. I plan on putting the 65 fastback on ebay this evening. Hopefully things will start moving along pretty quickly again with the 67 as soon as the other parts arrive.

not trying to be a butthead or prove anyone wrong but I had a friend tell me he went to look at a classic porsche once upon a time and said that when he got there he started inspecting the car and found that it had been in a major accident and was covered in bondo so much so that he could not find where the bondo stopped and the metal began. which goes to show that a car can almost completely be covered with it
