Building 347 stroker and worried about stock c4 trans

Hey guys, first time im posting on here but read a lot of your threads. Main reason i am building a 347 stroker! have to thank you all for killing the myths by the way. Anyways i am worried about my stock c4 not being able to take the power. Wondering if its worth having someone go through it or just buy another tranny. Not loaded with cash after all the upgrades so i cant just go out and buy a bad ass tranny right now but dont want to put the motor in and destroy the trans in 5 seconds....any suggestions?

Just take the C4 to someone you trust, and have them go through it. You're probably going to need a stall converter anyways. They can handle plenty of power.

bought a 3200 stall for it last week but just got to thinking today that trans might not make it. you get mixed reviews from different sites but i trust this one the most. lets see if that puppy holds!!

Have not got the motor back from the shop yet so
I don't know the real power but my buddy there
has been doing it a while and said around 480 fwhp . All forged internels
full roller. 10:5:1 compression. I'm not a motor head though so I'm
really talking out if my ass at this point

A C4 can be built for well over 600 HP easy. My C4 is just about bullet proof.... all it needs is new clutches ever 400-500 passes, other than that nothing breaks.

How much do you think it would cost to have someone
go through mine? Tranny was fine with my 289. No problems what so ever.

Late player here, by now you've already determined the C4 can handle your engine. I've got one behind a 435hp 351w in an SCCA Solo II car and it's taken several years of abuse. I just did a basic stock rebuild on mine using quality parts, installed a reverse valve body in it and a slightly looser convertor, nothing fancy.

That was to stay on topic, slightly off topic, do you have any comments on your TCI front insall? I'm considering one in my new car and so far have pretty much heard all positive comments on them.

I absolutely love the front end. everything measured up right and there was no need for any mods to the kit. car drives so so good now. like night and day bro. my advice would be to do it and make sure you get the power rack!
