In the process of 302/T5 swap on a 66 coupe
Hey guys, im stuck again and i have a couple of questions.
So I pulled the I6 engine out of the 66 with the lame 3 speed. I also pulled the 302/T5 out of the donor car but before i stick it in i had couple of concerns ![]() My first concern is fitting the 302 in the engine bay... the 302 has aftermarket long tubes in it and im not sure if they are going to clear the shock towers... second is the trottle linkage... on the old car is a solid bar that has couple of 90 bends in it and it goes to the wrong side of the carburator on the 302. What is my solution to that? Third is the clutch pedal and if i need to make any modifications on it... And last but not least... does the T5 yoke fit straigh onto the old driveshaft? and as a bonus question of anyone is willing to answere.... is there any way that i can make the rear end from the 87 mustang fit in the 66?

The shock tower are a bitch to get any kind of long tube by. You can do it but its not easy at all. Even the ones made for our cars have trouble. I removed the shock towers. The rear end should fit fairly easy with a dif U Joint. Not sure on the width of those 8.8 though. Can you measure from perch to perch?

Are you going fuel injected?
You can use eveything from your doner car. I takes a little skill to make it all work. Clutch pedal there are a lot of way to do it what are you looking to do? cable, Rod , Hydraulics? You will probly need to go with the headman shorty headers we have been using. there only $169 Bucks. Fit Great... |
