new to the site 1966 mustang

I just bought a 1966 mustang with a inline 6. I am wanting to add a set of 99-04 but currently have the 4 lug set up. I have read that you can add 1inch adapter to make the 17" bullitt wheels work but I dont know how they would look and how safe they would be.

If any of you guys have any photos or info to help me out please let me know.

I also want to switch my rear tail lights which bubble out to the shelby tails or the lights which are recessed. I dont even know if this is possible or not. Hopefully you guys can tell me where to go and if its possible.

I also want to see any after market cd players you guys installed or retro fit cd players.

Sorry for all the questions but I am just itching to start work on the car. I add photos this weekend after i have a chance to clean her up.

Thanks,
Joe

Welcome to the MM Forum...

Here is My interior with indash CD player.
I just use the holder of the CD player to mark were to cut the dash.

Here is the tail lights that you can flush mount in the tail light panel. We sell these.

The wheel adapters from 4 to 5 I have not seen any.

Good Luck

would those let me put on some 99-04 bullitt wheels. Looks like they are 4 lug to 4 lug. I think the bullitt wheels are 5 lug. Do you run these or know of any one that does. I just want to fit the bullitt wheels and not make the tire stick out so far.

I was told in order to convert to 5 lugs I need a whole new rear end and spindles up front with all new steering up front. I was also told that you can not fit 17" wheels on a 66 without changing the fenders to 67 fenders.

Any input would be appreciated.

If you look at it it is a custom order form, it's for 4 lug to whatever bolt pattern, it ask you to input the bolt pattern you want and the thickness of the spacer. Figure out what specs you want your adapters and you can run the bullit wheels on your car.

I had 17x8s on my 66 front and rear without modifying anything. To put 17x9's or wider an option is to use 67 outer fenderwells.
If you are planning to swap in a V8 then the 5 lug swap suspension is a must, you will have to upgrade the front and rear suspension, swap out the rear end, steering, exhaust, cooling system, driveshaft.
There are several ways to swap to 5 lug. If you are keeping the car a 6 cylinder and 4 lug all around and just want to bolt up the bullit wheels then the 4 lug to 5 lug adapters will be a simple bolt-on solution. That would be the cheapest way to bolt bullits on your car.

I found a set of xxr 16 inch wheels does any one know what offset and tire size i would need to make these work.

I was thinking 4x114.3 wheels 7" wide in the front with 225x50 tires and 8" wide 225x50 in the rear. Does any one know if this will work. I want a different look and I am about to have to buy new tires for the car and would rather just change out the wheels/tires at the same time.

16x7 16 inch XXR 513 wheels 4x100 4x114.3 Honda Acura: eBay Motors (item 290458029942 end time Sep-24-10 08:22:24 PDT) - here is the link to the ones i want.

any info would be great

You need to know the backspacing for those to make sure they will fit and look correct.

Size: 2 rims 16X7 with 2.5" lip and offset is +15

Size: 2 rims 16X8 with 3.5" lip and offset is +0

Bolt Pattern: 4X100 and 4X114.3 (4.5")

looks like they might fit, I was told I could only 16s on the 66. If I want to go to 17's I would have to get the 67 rear fenders because the 66 fenders are not wide enough? Have you guys made this work?

I am just going to stick with my original wheels and hub caps.

I have a minfold which was damaged and need to replace. Who makes a header that will work the the straight v6?
