Someone here was saying you could buy a whole C4 transmission that was built and was much better then the stock one. Maybe thats a better route to take. Something to think about.

I bought the Transgo stage 2 shift kit on Ebay for about 50 bucks.

The instructions are pretty clear and it was easy to install. The shifting was an immediate change. The shifts are much firmer and you have full manual control of 1st and 2nd gears, and they shift fast and firm.

I don;t recomand the stage 1 or "shift improver" kits. They don't do much, I don't see the point.

I also have a valve body with a stage 3 kit, full manual. That would ge great for the strip and high performance street. I didn't want it though. Since I have an auto I just don't want to shift it all the time.

Also I bought a valve body on Ebay for $27.00. That way i could have a stock valve body or a performance version for $75.00 total.

Are these kits really as easy to instal as they say they are? I know stuff but am far to inexperienced to be called an expert or do any real crazy stuff.

so i called a couple transmission places and one of them said they woudnt install it because my transmission has like 130,00 miles on it and he said that the shift kit migh wreck it because of the added stress. but the other two places i called didnt think it would be a problem. any thoughts ?

yeah they are full of shit. from what i hear a shift kit is better. its a quicker, firmer more positive shift no mater what setting go with. its way better then stock i understand its suppose to help; the longivity of the tranny, well look. i got a 66 fastback. ALL ORIGINAL, (mostly) UNRESTORED. my trany is 41 YEARS OLD. never rebuilt and i put one in it and it works PERFECT. it now has 48,655 miles on it and is a thing of beauty
