first classic stang

Hello everybody, i'm new to this forum and classic stangs in general and was just looking for some advice. My friends and I are trying to rebuild a stang. We have a 351 cleveland and a brand new c4 tranny and i was wondering what was the best body to put this combo in. Also, should we look for a decent car to start with or just buy a junker and rebuild from the ground up? Oh and mods... we're looking for horsepower.... lots of horsepower!

thanks for looking and thanks for your help!

We are very happy to have you here! You can put a 351C in a 67-73 Mustang. I would look for a car with no rust.

cam intake and headers for starters... if you really want to get into it, port match the heads to the intake and headers and bump up the compresion to around 10.1 and itl be alot of fun..

and for the feel faster 3.73 gears and some kind of posi is mandatory

welcome, and enjoy your stay

have fun with the stang, which ever bodie you get (just go by preferance or if you want speed then the smallest and lightest which is a 67 or 68 coupe) make sure that it either already has a 9 inch rear or you have a 9er ready to drop in if you want to be putting lots of power down which is what it sounds like your wanting to do

Umm.... Best thing I can tell you is have fun cutting the car up if it's a 64-66. I have a 1965 I just dropped a 351w in and with the special exhaust manifolds, they still rest on the shock towers. Also if be careful about buying any mustang with a 6 in it. I had to track down the motor mounts for to switch mine from a 6 to an v8 and it cost me nearly $90 just for the side that mounts to the car. I got lucky on the mounts for the engine, the parts house carried those and they was only $16 each. When you find a car post a bit more info and I would be glad to help in anyway I can.

Thats the tough par about it. Look into the 69 and 70 fastbacks those years the body just looked like straight up muscle car. Best of luck look down south in dry areas for limited rust cars. I got lucky and found a cheap rust free car from Vegas.
