Steering fix?

I recently installed a Grant Classic steering wheel on my 1965 mustang and ever since the install, when ever I turn the wheel there's a grinding noise. I assume its coming from the wires and everything behind the horn button, but is there any way I can fix this? (Manual Steering)

And the sleeve that keeps the steering column solid keeps popping out. So my steering wheel is loose. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Michael

Welcome to MM Forums...

It does sound like you are missing the spring that goes behind the steering wheel.

With out it, it will let the rod move around , not space the wheel out and mess up your turn signal wiring up like you discribed.

It could also be the 2 spring loaded horn pegs. They ride on a copper ring and sometimes they get worn down and make a grinding noise. Replace or maybe run some dielectric grease on there.
