Shaved Door Handles

I'm planning to put in a shaved handle kit on my 69 Mach 1 along with the alarm system, but there's just too many choices out there. Does anyone have any experience with these. Opinions, recomendations, etc?

I'm guessing that I could hook the solenoids up to the alarm where the power lock relay would normally go, but I'm always open to more info or better ideas.

yes you can do it that way. As far as alarm systems are concerned I would go with VIPER or anything that is made by DEI (Directed electronics) just cause if you purchase it and get it installed by a liscenced location it will carry with a lifetime warranty on the alarm.

Heh, yeah, those problems had occured to me. It's definitely worth spending the extra money on quality equipment. I think I'm spending more time planning to overcome failures in the system than planning on instalation.

Were your cables pre-stretched? I've seen some kits that mentioned it and some that didn't. Once I get a good look at the solenoids and how I'm going to hook them up, I'll know if I can replace the cables with something more durable.

ok, i come across this question a lot.. i have shaved handles on my 1992 caprice & i have never had a problem with them & that car was driven daily for 2 years. if you are going to shave the handles buy the autoloc kit & get a viper alarm. you can run the door poppers through the alarm.

second, i reccomend putting on a non electrical emergency release on the car... i figure if you plan on doing this to your car that it will not be a daily driver so it will be fine... i ran my emergency latch on the inside of the frame rail so it is harder to find & you cannot get to it without a good attempt... i've seen emergency latches put in the wheel wells, in the frame rails & since your car is an older model (correct me if i'm wrong) you dont need to pull a latch inside the car to open your hood.. if thats true, put the latch in an inconspicuous spot in the engine bay.. get creative... shaved handles look great! don't let someone talk you outta them!

Well, I'm going to be keeping a small 12v battery in the trunk as emergency backup just in case of something like that, since the trunk will still be key access. I can detach and crawl through the back seat if I get really desperate.
