Exhaust Dilemma

I have been working on my GT500 convertible clone for awhile. Wiring is finished I built the dash with ultralite guages. The Cobra brakes are installed although the piping is not complete. The 427 is now running in the car. It is time for an exhaust. I am looking at a Pypes Violator system and also considering Flowmaster 40 series. I do not want to screw this up. The car is going to be driven only to shows, Sat cruises etc. I want it to be noticed BUT the sound is the key. I need some opinions,Thanks!!

I have dual flowmasters on my '69 F100 428FE. They are loud and sound good. But for my mustang I'm going to go with something a bit quieter. So I would stay away from flowmaster unless you want it to be loud inside and outside the car.

Hello,

In my opinion I would suggest a complete dyno tuned system from Magnaflow exhaust part# 15816 2.5" or 15819 3.0" .

These are dyno tuned systems designed specifically for the car. The systems are all stainless steel, lifetime warranty, mandrel bent systems that allows for 20% to 30% higher flow over the crimp bent pipe. They also incorporate the Magnaflow straight thru wide open mufflers and power producing X-pipe. Some systems use universal mufflers that are baffled or chambered which create back pressure and interior drone. Ease of installation is another advantage of Magnaflow, hangers are welded on and their is no welding or cutting required, you can do this with simple tools.

click here for sound clip. The sound clip was from a Elinore with 427.

We have installed many of these systems. The power and torque gain is significant plus the throttle response was impressive. That deep muscle sound is also a plus.

Please feel free to call, email or PM us anytime with questions or for the special low forum pricing . Have a great day!!!

Regards,
Don

I have a SS magnaflow 2.5" system modded over from a 2003, sounds great, although a bit loud with the 3.5" megaphones. Does magnaflow make inserts for the megaphones?
