1. What is your budget. add 20% you will go over.

2. How far you want to take it apart.

3. Buy storage totes.

4. buy freeze zip lock bags

5. dont take it apart farther then you can put it back together.

6. Find a painter that will not screw you. "talk to people that have used them."

If you need any help let me know...

I am in the same boat as you. you might want to look at starting with getting the V8 suspension, brakes and steering all pieced together. Also start looking for a 8 in/9in rearend

hey guys sorry i havent updated in a couple of days. been real busy trying to get it all up and running after 6 yrs of sitting . well i took lots of pics and a couple vids.... after day one i had it towed over to my house jacket it up and pulled the wheels.. come to find out it had front disc brakes and rear drums... after tons of ordering parts and returning them due to being the wrong part.. the front disc brakes came off a 68 stang. so took some time getting the right parts.. then order new drums due to them having chips and cracks.. then when i went to put them on realized they were the 4 bolt pattern when mine are 5 lug lol so tomorrow i will return them and get the right ones. i should have the breaks all finished tomorrow and have the wheels put on. all i have left to get it inspected is the blinker. i have the headlights and hi beams ... tail lights and brake lights but i still cant get the blinkers going.... anyone have any suggestions?? i put on all new shocks .. springs seem to be ok for now till i can afford to get my new motor and tranny.. then i will beef up the rest of the suspension around feb. 2011. my carb was not working with me and tried soaking in cleaner and lube and still didnt start working so i went to Johns mustang near downtown and got a rebuilt.. runs like a dream lol for a 6 cyl. but i love it. tomorrow i will put up pics and links to the video unless u want to got to youtube.com and look up project 66m
and

when i figure out how to put up pics i will... if ya can tell me ill upload em thanks again for input would like to know what ya think of it so far thank everyone again for yalls input

new update::

looks like you already armed yourself with a camera, that is a great start, take a b u t t load of pictures, I always take at least two pictures of everything, it sounds silly but when you later upload them to your computer, you have a better chance of getting some that are actually in focus, plus it's not like you are paying for film these days, so take multiple pictures of the same part, from many angles, you'll thank me later when yo go to put the part pack after having a couple kids, lol

having brought back quite a few vehicles from sitting, (motorcycle and cars) you know the "ran when parked" variety I can tell you that your work will fall into two categories:

1. Getting it running - this is no fun, you do something and the return is minimal, you put in a new battery, and she still won't start, you replace the brushes on the starter and she still won't start, you replace the coil, and find out the plug wires were crap, then you rebuild the carburetor for the second time because the first time you rushed through it, and now you are going to do it right, you don't want to, but you have to drop the tank and clean it out with loose bolts and fresh gasoline, or some other magical cocktail, then you replace the fuel lines, put the inline fuel filter in backwards and wonder why the fuel pump sucks, or doesn't suck, then you take off the fuel pump test it, find out it's fine, but now you gotta buy more gaskets, put it all back and turn that filter around, finally you do what you should have done first, buy new plugs, try them, then pull them out and gap them proper like the gray beard behind the parts counter told you to do in the first place...

2. Keeping it running - this is when the fun starts, the car can now talk to you and tell you what it needs, you are driving it, it pulls to one side, the brakes squeak, it over heats, you park it on a hill and it rolls back cause the parking brake don't work, things rattle (rattling is good means you are moving) LOL, black smoke comes out the tail pipe - she might need new rings, etc
