however my dream engine was the 351cj, it was not an easy fit into a 68, but it is arguably the best old school race engine that ford produced

well, I suppose it was the long tube headers that presented the challenge, other than that it fits right in.

I also wanted to go with some front end conversion, but options are limited with a 351c, the front sump gets in the way.

also no out of the box solution to mating it to a c4, no bellhousing/TC combo worked, ad to plasma a spacer. The shaker also sat too tall for a stock hood, went with a fiberglass hood with a small rise.
sorry for all the posts... |

GT500 engine with twin turbos. It would be a turbo for sure. Or do it like this!

Ugh... who'd want to mate that motor to an automatic?

yeah, while I do agree it is still a blast to drive. It was originally a GTA and I had all of the console/shifter/built trans on hand, but someday it will most likely be a manual of some sort or another. clearance with the headers and future rack and pinion are still a consideration. so it was a decision between bolting up all of the parts that I already had and keeping the original GTA badges vs. spending another couple thousand on another setup that I can pretty much guarantee will not be an easy fit. 351cj's eat t5's so it would have to be, what, a top loader or a t56?
