gt40 heads question

hey guys, my dads got a 67 with a 302 in it and for christmas i want to do something cool for him. hes got a set of gt40 heads he bought for cheap and they are just lying around so i figured id freshen them up a bit and have them installed for him.

so my first question is what are a few things i can do as far as replacing parts on the head or freshening/cleaning them up?

any and all help would be appreciated thanks

Take them to a reputable shop in your area that does head work, that is know to be good. Have them port out the intake and exhaust valves/passages (often called a 3-angle valve job, and it makes part of the intake/exhaust passages bigger not just the valve opening). I don't know if it would be a good idea to do anything to the combustion chamber or not. Anyone know if on a set of GT40 heads if its a good idea to have them alter the combustion chambers themselves (not the valves)?

Outside of taking them to a shop for that kind of work, you can always just get a set of nice aftermarket roller rockers (1:6 ratio would be fine, 1:7 better yet), a new set of springs and retainers (good time to get a set of better quality/performance aftermarket springs), and new/bigger valves if you did go the route of having the heads ported.

It would also be a good idea to get him a new set of gaskets for when he goes to swap over to the gt40 heads.
